About Us

CPD for School and University Staff.

The Impact in Learning programme is a research-based intervention programme that has proven to raise attainment by engaging parents more effectively in their children’s learning at home.  Based on the research of the world-leading expert in the field, Professor Charles Desforges, the programme aims to support parental confidence in helping their child with homework and furnishing the home learning environment with tried and tested resources.

Roy Broadfield is our Primary National Consultant and has delivered inspirational talks on Parental Engagement in a number of national conferences, including at the National College of Teaching and for colleagues at the DfE and Ofsted.  He is regularly called upon to deliver staff training to school-based colleagues nationally and has now delivered CPD training to over 760 schools. (See Roy’s biog below).

Roy has delivered annual specialist talks to ITT trainees at  universities nationally and his input is regularly referred to as being ‘inspirational.’  His witty, engaging content covers such areas as;

  • How to raise attainment for pupils by engaging with parents.
  • How to ensure good attendance at parental engagement workshops (resulting in an average of 90% parental attendance in the vast majority of schools).
  • How to ensure parents become confident in tutoring their child at home.
  • How to improve parents’ subject knowledge in national curriculum content.
  • How Early Career Teachers and those new to the profession can use parental engagement as a tool for building positive relationships and reducing workload.

Roy is available for 90-minute staff (and university student) CPD sessions and half-day teacher training events in which all the above-mentioned content will be covered.  Key Note conference talks are also a feature of Roy’s work and these are often carried out in conjunction with one or several of our partners listed below;
